Got to page 95 before realizing that I didn't really need or want to slog through the rest. The publication date is 1956, and the dry prose is characteristic of older historical novels. Omniscient POV was annoying, too. I really wanted to like this, because I love historicals about Empress Ci Xi, but alas, it was not to be.
And I'll stop the post-spam now, honest.
