rachelmanija, have you read The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni? It's apparently a retelling of the Mahabharata from Princess Panchaali's viewpoint. I like historicals and feminist novels, but the moralistic, retrospective tone in The Blood of Flowers really annoyed me, so I'm on the fence about adding this one to the queue.
